TANDBERG ADDS NEW DIMENSION TO VIDEOCONFERENCING MANAGEMENT WITH SCHEDULING FEATURE

-TANDBERG Simplifies Videoconferencing Management by Enhancing Web-Based Management Software and Introducing System Reservation and Scheduling Tool-

Oslo, Norway - January 23, 2002 - TANDBERG, a global leader in videoconferencing, announced today significant enhancements to the web-based TANDBERG Management Suite (TMS), used by system administrators and videoconferencing specialists to manage, maintain and monitor videoconferencing systems. New functionality in TMS version 4 enables any user in an organization to reserve a system and schedule a meeting from his/her own PC. This makes it easier to plan a video meeting and eliminates the need to call a bridging service or the organization's internal video service desk. By addressing the needs of both administrators and end-users, TMS helps customers realize the full value of their videoconferencing systems.

In a survey that demonstrates the increased demand for web-based video conferencing, Wainhouse Research and TANDBERG found that 25% of 500 respondents will be investigating web-based videoconferencing management in the coming year. Sverre Kjenne, president of TANDBERG, says "TANDBERG's solutions are designed to make videoconferencing convenient, easy to use and easy to maintain at a low cost. The TANDBERG Management Suite takes videoconferencing management to a new level by allowing even the most casual or inexperienced user to easily reserve a system and arrange a meeting. The software removes manual routines and makes videoconferencing systems more accessible."

The newest TMS includes a number of enhancements that make the software easier to use, and new functions that will allow administrators to provide better support. These include graphical monitoring, detailed system and call information, call history and network statistics, directory services and email or SMS notification of selected events. TMS also has enhanced security features such as the ability for administrators to protect system settings and ensure that only authorized people can monitor calls. In addition, TMS supports access codes or account codes and reporting and billing information so that costs can be accurately allocated. TANDBERG Management Suite supports management of TANDBERG videoconferencing systems as well as standards-based systems from other vendors.

Additional enhancements include:

  • scheduling and calling function that allows a MultiSiteTF meeting to be automatically arranged by meeting participants
  • invitation feature for sending participants an email inviting them to a meeting (integrated with Microsoft Outlook)
  • graphical system monitor showing systems status (e.g. in call, systems not responding on the network, call type, streaming)
  • increased performance and stability resulting from implementation of a true SQL server database
  • · messaging function which is used to notify selected people that specific events have occurred on a system or network (i.e. network problems, busy systems or even if the batteries on the remote control need changing)
  • revised interface and menu structure for easier navigation and increased user-friendliness
  • expanded statistics with sorting, filtering an exporting possibilities which simplify analysis, reporting and billing procedures
  • group based access control on folder- and system-level integrated with NT user authentication.
